Hi, I’m caitlin.
I believe that relationships, whether with ourselves or others, are at the heart of our well-being. It’s all about how we connect, communicate, and find meaning with the people around us. And that applies to the therapist and client relationship as well– the relationship that unfolds in the therapy room is key! My approach is grounded in empathy and openness, creating a warm and trusting space to help you uncover the unconscious, decipher relational patterns in the present, and tune into yourself.
ABOUT ME
I know that life can be messy, and being a human adult isn’t always easy. I’m here to truly listen—without judgment—and to understand what makes you who you are. And, at the end of the day, I’m a person too, navigating life’s ups and downs. As a relational therapist, I’m not just a blank slate—I bring my authentic self into the room and believe that the connection that unfolds between us is key. I will laugh with you, sit in discomfort and sadness with you, and help you feel truly seen and understood.
I received a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, where I became focused on psychodynamic and relational approaches. While studying, I chose to specialize in working with couples and relationships, and since then, I have become certified as an Imago Relationship Therapist with many hours of advanced supervision. Along with my learned knowledge, I have professional and lived experience with a wide range of concerns, including stress and anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, career transitions, loss of/re-creation of identity, and relationship issues including co-dependence, marriage, divorce, and more.
I came to the field of psychotherapy from the performing arts world, where I was a professional musician, a teacher, and finally an artistic director. This journey taught me creativity, sensitivity, resilience, and the ability to stay curious— all things I now bring into my work as a therapist. Originally from the midwest, I have lived in an assortment of other places around the USA and abroad and currently in Washington, DC. I am an ice cream enthusiast, an avid New York Times Connections player, and a recently converted cat-person.
